On Sunday 4 March, a number of Court Moor students played a ranged of brass instruments at the Music for Youth Festival at Alderwood School. They belong to either the North East Hants Area Schools Band or Training Band, brass brands conducted by Mr Wyld who also teaches at school through Hampshire Music Service.

The Training Band played in the morning. Their repertoire included 'Hey Jude' and 'I'm a Believer' and they were praised for rich warm, well-supported tone and dynamic contrast.

The Main Band which contains the more experienced musicians, played in a more demanding category. Their pieces followed a theme of Air and Sky: a march called 'Heaven Come Down', 'Steel Skies' and 'Crazy Music in the Air'. They were praised for a fantastically exciting performance. The students shown in the picture all belong to the Main Band and wore their band uniform for the occasion. Both bands will be judged against bands at other locations for a chance to progress to the final in July.

The two brass bands perform a number of concerts each year and supported the Remembrance Service at Ash on a chilly morning in November, as well as playing carols in the Hart Centre at Christmas. Congratulations to all for their hard work!
