Careers Café: Police
Back
This morning we welcomed Lauren Anderson, a Trainee Detective Constable with the Met Police, to our careers café.
Lauren covered the many types of career available with the police, including the benefits of volunteering, particularly if you're considering a future career with the police. Lauren went through the routes to become a constable with the Met Police, either via a 3 year apprenticeship or a 2 year programme for degree holders. This was followed by the two routes to becoming a detective: either after two years as a detective constable, or the direct entry route which Lauren is taking. Lauren also covered her day-to-day experience, with examples such as crime scene management, interviewing suspects, and appearing in court. To end, Lauren had brought along some of the items she is required to wear and use, such as a stab vest, equipment harness, forensic suit, and evidence bags.
Thanks to Lauren for a really interesting and useful talk!
