Careers Café: Paramedic

We welcomed Jo Michaelides, a paramedic with the south east ambulance service, to our careers café this morning.

Jo detailed her route into the career and explained the other in-service/apprenticeship routes. She also covered the specialisms that you can move into e.g. working with the air ambulance service, GP teams, and call handling. Jo listed what students can do now to get beneficial experience, for example, become a cadet with St. John's ambulance. She detailed a typical shift, if there is such a thing as a typical shift for a paramedic! Jo also covered how satisfying the role can be, along with the excellent camaraderie within the teams. The session was well attended and the students had some insightful questions.
