Yesterday we had our student international cultural evening. Ms Laird has already organised and run two previous staff cultural evenings, and she brought her experience to another fantastic and well attended event for students.

Students had the opportunity to show off the best bits of their cultural heritage in food, clothing, ornaments, flags and favourite songs. The food and cultural immersion was followed by some suitably international karaoke, kickstarted by Mr Taylor who got the crowd participating with a song in Brazilian Portuguese. Students then competed, judged by crowd applause volume, and it was won for Scotland by a Proclaimers fan singing "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)". Who can resist singing along to that?! This was followed by limbo, and both students and staff were unbelievably flexible and creative in approach, but only one winner was able to limbo the lowest! Finally, students waited patiently in line to shred the pinata donkey within an inch of its tissue paper, then relished the treats that fell out.

The students commented on how much they enjoyed the evening. There was so much lovely food, and a great atmosphere. Well done to Ms Laird, the participating students, and the supporting staff for such a fantastic evening. We're already thinking of next year!
