Careers Café: Finance

We welcomed Ugur Engin, Director and Global Head of Cost Management at HSBC, to our careers care this morning.

Ugur gave some good general advice about careers and working in what you enjoy and are good at. He explained how a career path is not always a straight line upwards, and those bumps along the way can help you learn and build resilience. Ugur also detailed his career journey from a degree in economics to an accountancy qualification, then a position at HSBC. He emphasised how work experience during education can benefit when you come to interview. Ugur covered the types of financial careers and accountancy, and how key these roles are in supporting most industries. Ugur finished with detailing the types of work experience and apprenticeships that HSBC offer. It was another well attended session with some great questions from students.
